Abstract
Ordered structures of rodlike (cylindrical) particles in dc and rf gas discharge plasmas were investigated. It was shown theoretically and observed experimentally that only two orientations (parallel and perpendicular to the external electric field) of cylindrical particles are possible and that changing the discharge parameters can result in the change of the particle orientation.
