Abstract :
The computation of the scattering matrix of a junction between two coaxial lines is described. Scattering matrix derivatives with respect to geometrical characteristics, permittivity and frequency, can also be obtained using the same method. It then becomes possible to optimise the structure under test. The equations are solved using the finite element method. The formulation uses Maxwell´s equation by considering electromagnetic fields as vector distributions.
