  • Abstract
The method of least squares is developed for the design and optimisation of a novel two-way high-power divider with arbitrary power division and impedance matching of the input to output ports over a desired frequency bandwidth. The even- and odd-mode analysis is used for the evaluation of scattering parameters (such as output port isolations and transmission coefficients), which are then used for the construction of an error function; its minimisation provides the geometrical dimension of the divider. Two examples of design and optimisation are presented and then fabricated and measured. Together with the full-wave simulation by commercial software, the proposed method is validated. By increasing the number of sections of the divider from one to two sections, the measured -15-dB isolation bandwidth has increased from 40 to 50-. The ripple amplitude of transmission coefficient in the passband has decreased and the out-of-band rejection has increased to more than -10-dB.
