Abstract :
This paper presents an alternative solid-state topology for fault current limiting and interrupting device (FCLID) that is suitable for low-voltage distribution networks. The switching frequency of the proposed topology in the fault mode has been significantly decreased. Single phase prototype of the original and proposed FCLID are developed and experiments are carried out. The results show that the proposed prototype is capable of limiting any fault currents with a lower switching frequency.
