Abstract :
In this comment, we give a detailed derivation procedure to obtain the local reflection and transmission matrix describing the conversion of modes from layer m to layer m+1 for a half-space problem, which is based on analyzing Fan et al. “3-D numerical mode-matching (NMM) method for resistivity well-logging tools,” IEEE Trans. Antennas Propag., vol. 48, pp. 1544-1552, Oct. 2000. Our conclusions show that the local transmission matrix, (13) in the abovementioned paper, has an error.
