Abstract
A description is presented of two rule-based techniques which predict the impact of power system voltage control devices on system bus voltages in order to aid to the decision making within a voltage control expert system. The first technique allocates to each controller a set of buses on which the controller has a significant impact. The second one determines the two controllers which are best suited to alleviate voltage problems at a given bus. Results using the IEEE-118 system are compared to load flow based results and demonstrate the feasibility of these techniques for expert system applications
