Abstract :
A coupling between physical arc modelling in a circuit-breaker and external circuit modelling is presented and discussed. The former involves Navier-Stokes equations and finite elements. The latter leads to ordinary differential equations. Both are coupled through the arc impedance, a pure resistance or a parallel R-C dipole. Comparisons between experimental and numerical results are given and discussed
