Abstract :
Is company loyalty a thing of the past? To what extent is it important, anyway? Can engineers and scientists whose jobs are linked to specific projects have great loyalty to the corporation when a project cancellation or a corporate merger might leave them unemployed? Can top executives whose jobs hinge on the quarterly report to stockholders be expected to have great loyalty to the corporation, its employees, and the community? Can union members who may hold an adversary position with respect to top management, and even to their immediate supervisors, be expected to take pride in the jobs they do and to maintain a competitive spirit?
