Abstract :
An efficient approach to the optimal selection of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) locations is proposed. The method minimizes the number of sensors required to reconstruct system behavior from wide-area measurements using a max - min optimization problem through a guided search technique. This approach results in accurate state representation and can be applied to measured data. Two case studies are investigated to assess the ability of the proposed technique to reconstruct system behavior from a limited number of measurements. It is demonstrated that the PMU location method can be applied to measured data with robust performance.
