  • Abstract
Distribution system reconfiguration, optimal capacitor allocation, and distributed generation allocation are three techniques adapted for active power loss reduction. These techniques not only control the power loss but also improve the distribution system voltage profile, and improve the system reliability and security. This paper develops a methodology to solve the reconfiguration problem simultaneously with optimal allocation method in order to sizing and sitting capacitors and distributed generation. To validate results of the proposed joint optimization methodology, the IEEE 33-bus feeder system is used. The results are compared respect to initial configuration and with the use of the mentioned techniques individually. The outcomes verify that the proposed methodology is efficient, fast, and capable of solving those optimization problems jointly.
