Abstract :
In this paper we describe our experience in assembling an optical circuit using mixed vendors optical DWDM environment. Alien wavelength is used to establish a 100 Gbps optical circuit between routing equipment, which in our case also serves as source and destination of a specific tunable wavelength, within RoEduNet DWDM network. The optical network is using electronic compensation of dispersion at the service network element level. Because the alien wavelength bypasses this equipment, it should deal with chromatic dispersion. Some comparison is done between classic DWDM solution and alien wavelength solution.
