Abstract :
The proposed analysis deals with the study of the surge behaviour of buried long conductors, by taking into account the true frequency-dependent electrical properties of soil as a discharge medium of a transient current. As regards the water content, the worst case of soil practically devoid of moisture and, conversely, the case of water-saturated soil are both considered. When the conductor under investigation is a cable sheath, the propagation function and the induced noise inside the shielded cable are evaluated
