Abstract
A precision time base for use in a coastal defence fire-control radar set is described. The accuracy is about 1 part in 2 000 and the flexibility and neat method of display make it a useful and versatile time base. Three variations, derived from this original time base are also described. The first of these is a simplified precision version for anti-aircraft fire-control radar. The others are for surface-search radar and aircraft-warning radar sets and have accuracies of about 0.3% and 1% respectively. The four time bases described constitute the display units of nearly all the radar sets developed in Australia. Something like five hundred sets have been built around them.
