Abstract :
Additives, such as cyclotriphosphazenes, those are mixed to the perfluoropolyethers (PFPE) lubricants are used in order to improve the tribological properties of magnetic disks. The proper concentration of additive improved the CSS performance. The effects of additive were clarified using several kinds of instruments. There was no segregation of each molecule in the less than 2-nm-thick film. The additive had the effect on increasing the mobile layer of the layered structure. The coverage of the mixed lubricant film with an additive was higher than that of PFPE. The reflow rate of the mixed lubricant film was larger. The higher coverage and the higher reflow rate of the mixed lubricant film improve the durability of magnetic disk
