Abstract
The authors show that it is possible to diminish the ripple in shaped beam patterns by filling nulls in the sidelobe region, yielding a small variability within the aperture distribution. This is important for alleviating mutual coupling effects between radiating elements. The technique uses an extension of the Orchard-Elliott method to obtain this null-filling, providing a greater number of solutions for the same power pattern than the conventional method. Application to a cosec2(θ)×cos(θ) pattern is presented
