Abstract :
This paper describes a 57 GHz-63 GHz short range FMCW radar system using a meander-line beam scanning antenna designed in substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technique. In order to obtain an instantaneous coverage of the azimuthal field of view, the sensor is provisioned to employ a scanning principle by radiating broadband waveforms with different frequencies into separate spatial directions. For surveillance purposes using this scanning technique, a lightweight radar demonstrator was build and first meaningful tests were performed.
