Abstract :
Systematic experiments in improving the quality of industrial processes can yield better understanding of the processes and all-round improvements. The author describes how to set about gaining these benefits. This article sets out various types of quality characteristics for industrial experiments and offers guidelines for selecting the right quality characteristics. It also highlights a framework that covers a variety of manufacturing process problems and the most suitable quality characteristic (or response) of interest to experimenters for each associated process
