Abstract
Acoustic transducers are used in sonar applications to transfer the electrical signals into water medium in the form of an acoustic signal. However, the non-flat frequency response of the transducer and driver electronics cause some distortions in the transmitted signal. These distortions can be reduced by passing the input signal through an equalization filter. In this study, the tests that are conducted to identify the characteristics of the transducer and driver electronics are explained first. The design of the compensation filter and the test results obtained in the water tank are given next. Lastly, a performance comparison is made between the usage of compensated and uncompensated input signals.
