Abstract :
A new type of Nb/sub 3/Sn superconductor, fiber-reinforced superconductor (FRS), has been developed for application in high-field pulsed superconducting magnets. This paper describes the superconducting properties of multifilamentary FRS with a length of one meter made by a sputtering apparatus with spools. The strain versus stress relationship and strain versus critical current properties are compared with those of other samples including a monofilamentary FRS. The index (n) values are examined for the multifilamentary FRS and compared with those of monofilamentary FRS selected from the multifilamentary FRS. A low-J/sub c/ FRS and a high-J/sub c/ FRS prepared by the same process are examined in terms of the critical current distribution.
