Field-strength estimation by means of high-frequency direction-finders in H.M. Ships

The use of shipborne high-frequency direction-finders for measuring the field strength of received signals is described. The application of the method for locating the position of a transmitter is discussed in detail. The accuracy of the method, and the range at which it is applicable, are given. The conclusions reached are confirmed by experiments described in the paper.
