Abstract :
This work presents a planar dual-polarized reflector feed for direct broadcast satellite (DBS) systems. The planar feed is a multilayered structure, featuring a suspended planar array with the aperture-coupling feed and the suspended-microstrip feed. The design of independent feeding circuits on each side of the ground plane provides effective isolation between the two feeding ports (35 dB). Radiation patterns for a 2 × 2 suspended array feed are similar to those of the conventional feed horn. The planar feed antenna gains are 12 and 30 dBi, as measured with a 20-in reflector at 12.2 GHz.
