Abstract
When designing elliptic-function filters there is usually some margin in performance to ber distributed over the defining parameters. A recent paper by M. Vlcek and R. Unbehauen (see ibid., vol.CAS-36, p.469-72, 1989) offered some comparatively complicated formulas for use in this stage of the design. However, a simpler method, originally due to S. Darlington (1939), is available and is described briefly
