Abstract :
An efficient direct method for the computation of a length-N discrete cosine transform (DCT) given two adjacent length-(N/2) DCT coefficients, is presented. The computational complexity of the proposed method is lower than the traditional approach for lengths N>8. Savings of N memory locations and 2N data transfers are also achieved.
