Abstract
ENGINEERS ARE practical folk, as I´ve noted before, and their ability to patch things up is largely what holds the world together, along with a few bits of gaffer tape. This is not to say though, that they are immediately aware of the value of the things they discover en route, as drilling engineers in the US oil fields of the mid-19th century handsomely proved.
