Abstract :
In recent years, the promises of ultrawideband (UWB) technology have sparked the interest of the research community, and since 2002, when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved the commercial use of the frequency band between 3.1 GHz and 10.6 GHz for UWB systems [1], research in this field has gained momentum. The first years after the FCC´s release have seen an almost exponential increase in publications on this topic, as is shown in Figure 1.
