Abstract :
A simple formalism is outlined to explore linear and second harmonic magneto-optical Kerr effects in centro-symmetric, ferromagnetically ordered multilayers. The influence of surfaces and interfaces having distinct magnetizations is considered in terms of the volume and surface susceptibility tensors being invariant under the ordinary point groups
