Abstract :
High fill-factor, high extinction ratio THz polarizers have been fabricated with anti-reflection coatings to reduce insertion loss at target frequencies. The anti-reflection coating is made from inexpensive PVC and easy to apply using a hotplate. This coating technique has improved the transmission of perpendicularly polarized signal through the polarizer by ~2 dB, resulting in transmission through a substrate-based polarizer that is comparable to a free-standing wire-grid, and extinction ratio that is drastically higher.
