  • Abstract
Although it is less than four years old, our IEEE Student Branch at the Regional Engineering College in Tiruchirappalli, India, has already established an excellent record of achievement. The Branch, which started in January 1980 with 30 members, got the Vincent Bendix Award for 1981, the Outstanding Branch Counselor Award for 1982, and the Outstanding Chairman Award for Region 10 for 1983 — all in our first attempts. Our enrollment has also been growing along with our list of accomplishments. Today we are one of the largest IEEE Student Branches, numbering more than 210 members. Our members are mostly full-time students of electrical or electronics engineering, communications, or computer science. Our college admits students from all parts of India and from abroad, and so our Student Branch is truly transnational. Nearly all of our members reside in hostels attached to the college.
