Uno Lamm High Voltage Direct Current Award

This is a call for nominations of highly-qualified engineers and scientists, one of whom will receive an award for outstanding contributions to the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology. This technology has developed into an extremely powerful means for long distance energy transport, network interconnections, and ac system stability enhancement. Its present favorable status, as in so many other electric technologies, has come from the contributions of many dedicated engineers and scientists. To recognize the work of such individuals an award has been established within the IEEE Power Engineering Society for outstanding contributions to the High Voltage Direct Current technology. It is named for the man most responsible, as an engineer and manager, for the research and development that led to the first practical application of an HVDC connection between ac systems.
