Abstract :
The Alexanderson alternator was a rotary mechanical generator of radio carrier-waves at frequencies up to 100 kHz and beyond, developed in the early 1900s. In spite of the many technical problems involved in constructing machines of this sort they proved to be very successful, particularly for military work. One fully operational installation still exists today in southern Sweden
