Abstract
The M-ary phase-shift keying (MPSK) symbol error probability bounds used in the past are simple to calculate, but not particularly accurate. More recently, very tight bounds have been proposed, but they are not true bounds since they are based on an arbitrary truncation of an infinite series expansion. Two new upper and lower bounds that are straightforward and very tight, even as the signal energy goes to zero, are derived by the authors
