Abstract
The authors show the feasibility of a 10 Gbit/s eight-channel multi-repeater transmission system using 1.55 μm dispersion shifted fibres. Transmission over 480 km with 120 km long repeater spacings is achieved using an orthogonal polarisation arrangement and bit-phase arranged RZ pulse format
