Abstract :
A simple formula for estimating the clutter rank in the case of subarraying is derived. The well-known Brennan´s rule can be viewed as a special case of this formula. With the help of this formula, an insight into the eigenspectrum structure of the clutter in the case of subarraying can be achieved, and can be used to design an optimal subarraying. The simulation also verifies the accuracy of this formula
