Abstract :
The situation of the independent inventor is compared with that of a corporate inventor, and the value of independent inventing is emphasized. Education requirements, supplier practices, the not-invented-here attitude, and Internal Revenue Service policies are said to hamper the independent inventor. Coming to his support are new assistance for invention marketing, inventor-oriented education, and the increasing overhead costs of corporate research and development.
