Abstract :
The paper presents an approach to optimising a magnetic device, using a database of typical field configurations and appropriate symbolic relationships. Analytical expressions are thus determined for the sensitivities. This approach based on the magnetic circuit technique represents an inexpensive tool for a rough first optimal design of the devices and especially for the redesign and optimisation of existing ones. The method was successfully applied to redesigning a molding form with permanent magnets
