Abstract :
This paper describes an analysis process for a novel rare-earth permanent magnet lifting device by using finite element analysis. In the past ferrite and alnico magnets have been used in permanent magnet lifting devices which are extremely cheap compared to the neodymium-iron-boron magnets. Therefore optimized systems are not designed due to additional costs involved in purchasing and carrying out finite element analysis. Furthermore trial and error solutions have been associated with such designs for a long time, but now finite element analysis can not only enhance the design of the system but also predict whether the new design will function according to specifications
