Abstract :
The IRE awarded its 1960 Medal of Honor to Harry Nyquist for his "fundamental contributions to a quantitative understanding of thermal noise, data transmission, and negative feedback." He is remembered especially for his formulation of what became known as the "Nyquist criterion" for determining the stability of amplifiers.
