Abstract
The authors show that the size of the waveguide grating router on InP can be reduced by almost one order of magnitude by exploiting mirror reflections off cleaved facets. The sensitivity of the optical channel spacing against cleaving accuracy is investigated. Routers with large free-space regions require less cleaving accuracy than those with small free-space regions
