  • Abstract
I need to start off by saying that I think that social networking in the context of software and digital devices is probably very important. The real issue is not so much whether it exists as a cultural phenomenon, more how you manage it in the office. There are some basic psychological reasons for why this form of communication talks to our tribal nature. We need to bond and we need to build reciprocal relationships with people. We know that we work better with people if we have good social bonds with them. On the surface, this is what the technology on offer appears to provide.
