Abstract :
Why would a manufacturer producing only MOS circuits suddenly decide to invest heavily in the relatively new bipolar technology of I2L? In General Instrument´s case, the answer lies in the company´s special interest in the consumer and telecommunications marketplaces. I2L promises to provide greater performance and reliability than existing LSI technologies, including n-channel MOS and CMOS.
