Abstract :
Cold, hot, stuffy, cramped, poorly lighted, lacking privacy, disruptive to concentrated work effort… these are just a few of the complaints commonly lodged against engineering department “bull pens.” And adding glass-top partitions may only aggravate the situation. In this environment, the privacy game is played with five-drawer file cabinets scattered like pawns throughout the department´s checkerboard grid. Stuffed with vendor catalogues and carefully positioned, these monoliths help guard their resourceful owners from continual distraction and exposure.
