Abstract :
Higher costs for electricity consumers in the U.S. are expected as a result of energy legislation recently adopted by the House of Representatives. This conclusion was made in a recent survey by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI). As an example, the oil tax would add $834 million to the operational costs of the Southern California Edison Company through 1988, and the cost of converting that company´s generating facilities from oil to coal is estimated at $3 billion.
