Abstract :
Five articles on power supply technology and selection This 14-page booklet contains five short articles on power supplies. The first, by Harry Taylor, discusses factors such as complexity, quantity, and cost evaluation, that bear on the make — buy decision for power supplies. William Pharmer then discusses the relative merits of custom and standard supplies. John Roland covers the specification of high-voltage power supplies with main emphasis on electrical performance, static loading conditions, environmental considerations, and mechanicals aspects. Oil as a high-voltage insulator is discussed by Meade Bierley, and high-voltage circuit packaging is covered by Jan Askman.
