Abstract :
Spokesmen for Zenith Radio Corporation, Glenview, Ill., say the company is making continuing efforts to relocate 600 salaried employees affected by a September 28 cutback, and has initiated programs to help sharpen interview-taking and résumé-writing skills. Of the salaried group affected, those with ten or more years´ seniority will remain on the payroll until December 31, 1977. All others were terminated immediately and given severance pay based on length of service. Following months of financial difficulties and a mid-September reorganization of its engineering, research, and management activities, Zenith announced the layoffs as part of a sweeping cost-reduction program (see News from Industry in this issue, p. 115).
