Abstract :
This paper presents the service concept and the system architecture of the shiftable intelligent transportation systems (ITS) prepared for temporal operation of ITS in a rural or a suburban area during a short-time mega-event period. It provides with on-demand service deployable in an area only during the period and shiftable to another place, if needed, when it ends. The service is easy to implement wherever 3G or long term evolution (LTE) wireless communication is available. The cost effectiveness of the shiftable ITS service highlights 96% reduction of the total cost when compared to the one of the conventional ITS.
