Abstract :
This work described an on-road study to examine the effects of speedometer feedback training on speed estimation accuracy of electric bike riders. While speed perception is important for e-bike riders, its specific influence on riding speed still remains obscure. Therefore, a short period speedometer feedback training procedure was developed and tested in our research. By the combined use of speed sensor and self-report technique, the speed estimation accuracy was tested in a natural riding scenario on 24 subjects before and after they were randomly allocated into a control group and a training group. Speed estimation was found more accurate in training group compared to control group. The theoretical and practical implications were discussed.
