Abstract
At a poster session at a technical conference there is no captive audience. A modest amount of showmanship is therefore helpful in attracting attention. Fewer and bigger rather than more visuals are usually best; detailed information can be provided in other ways. Charts must be simple and legible. A photograph of the presenter helps newcomers identify him among the other visitors. Means for collecting names and addresses for further correspondence should be provided. Additional guidelines to assist organizers, presenters, and observers in exchanging information are presented.
