Abstract
A wideband single layer triangular patch antenna fed by an L-shaped probe is proposed. It achieves 42% impedance bandwidth (SWR⩽2) and a maximum gain of 6 dBi. A foam layer of thickness ~10% of the operating wavelength is used as the supporting substrate. The radiation pattern is stable across the passband
