Abstract :
The authors describe the high-speed operation of an electroabsorption modulator with travelling-wave electrodes. The modulator exhibited good performance over a broad bandwidth in 10 and 30 Gbit/s transmission experiments. The polarisation-insensitive electroabsorption modulator required a low switching voltage of ~1.6 V p-p
