Abstract :
Temperature dependent gain and power characteristics of erbium-doped fibre amplifiers operating in the C-band and L-band are compared. Experimental results are shown for the case of 980 and 1480 nm pump wavelength bands over a temperature range of -10-80°C. Results indicate that the temperature dependence of signal emission and absorption cross-sections have greater impact on the L-band output power. Furthermore, it is shown that the L-band temperature coefficient (dB/°C) is comparatively less sensitive to pump wavelength
